BOSS BR1600-CD is a 16-track, digital multitrack recorder and with its version 2 upgrade has received a vastly improved feature set. Boss BR1600-CD is the bigger brother of the BR-1200CD delivering 8 microphone inputs for tracking multiple instrument or mic inputs at once. With V2, BR-1600CD now features the superb Vocal Tool and Mastering ToolKit. Already powerful with eight XLR inputs for simultaneous recording, pro-grade effects, and backing tracks, the BR-1600CD with Version 2 upgrade (free for all previous BR-1600 units) improves and adds to the existing effects, including COSM bass amp models from the GT-6B, enhanced vocal tools, MIDI sync capability, and more. Also new to Version 2 - the Boss BR-1600CD can read BR-1200CD/1180CD song data, no conversion process necessary. Boss BR-1600CD Version 2 software includes the following updates:

Two types of bass-amp models were provided in the original BR-1600CD. Now, in Version 2, six COSM models have been added, bringing the total to eight. Also new to Version 2 are COSM-powered overdrive/distortion effects derived from the GT-6B, plus 2x2 Chorus, Humanizer, Vibrato, Slow Gear, and Ring Modulator effects. In Version 2, the order/routing of FX blocks can be freely modified.
The BR-1600CD includes eight sweet-sounding XLR microphone inputs with phantom power. Use them to mic up a drum set or to record your entire band in a single pass. Recording eight tracks at once is easy, thanks to a new "Multi-Track" recording mode - just pick your inputs and start recording while taking advantage of powerful channel effects like a compressor, 3-band EQ and bass cut filter.
Fix pitch, add harmony tracks - these essential tools have been part of the BR-1600CD’s feature set since its release. With Version 2, the Vocal Tool Box gets even better with enhanced realtime vocal-pitch correction that allows you to designate specific editing regions (by contrast, Version 1’s pitch correction was a real time process in units of semitones). The Harmony Sequence feature has been improved as well, allowing you to have more control over the editing parameters.
New to the BR-1600CD is its ability to synchronize playback or recording with another BR-1600CD, recorder, or MIDI sequencer via incoming MIDI Time Code (MTC). If you have a friend who owns a BR-1600CD, for example, the two units can be combined to create a 32-track recording studio with 16 simultaneous input channels!
Plug into the BR-1600CD and you’ve got an arsenal of world-class BOSS effects ranging from reverb, delay and modulation to the latest modelling effects for guitar, bass and vocals. These include powerful overdrive/distortion and amp modelling identical to the BOSS GT-6, acoustic and bass effects, plus mic modelling and a new Vocal Tool Box. This special algorithm includes auto pitch correction to keep you in tune, plus a Harmony Sequence function for creating realistic harmonies - no background singers needed!
The BR-1600CD now includes separate Drum, Bass and Loop Phrase tracks for creating complete backing arrangements. The Drum and Bass tracks come with high-quality PCM sounds. The Loop Phrase track can be loaded with user samples, or you can choose from a collection of loop phrases pre-loaded onto the hard disk. Using these tracks, you can build professional-quality arrangements for your guitar and vocals.
The BR-1600CD’s USB port makes it easy to load .WAV/AIFF files into a track, or export your audio for further editing in software or data backup. Want to integrate video with your music?
